The Organisation of Distribution

A company with its main activity in the physical distribution of newspapers and illustrated magazines wanted to optimise their entire process. The project was split up in three phases. At stage one the emphasis lay on establishing the optimum number of FTE's (full time equivalent). The aim was not to bring about a revolution but to start a slow evolution given the labour-intensive character of the business.

The Reorganisation of Transport

All distribution activities (primary and secondary) were done in-house. The fleet – that had been built historically –consisted of a mix of vehicles that were both company-owned and leased. Splitting up primary and secondary transport phased the project. New routings were developed. The subcontractors participated in the implementation.
